Logan Stalcup - Director of Bands

Mr. Stalcup’s responsibilities include the direction of the Wind Symphony and Marching Band, assistance with the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Bands, and support of band students across the Memorial feeder pattern. He previously served as Assistant Director of Bands at Marcus High School.

Mr. Stalcup graduated with distinction from The University of Oklahoma. During his time at OU, he was a member of the Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and Symphony Bands. He also served as the Drum Major of The Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band for the 2013 season. He studied Tuba with Mr. Brian Dobbins, conducting with Dr. Bill Wakefield, and arranging with Dr. Roland Barrett. Mr. Stalcup is a proud alumnus of The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Stalcup’s professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association.

He currently resides in the Frisco area with his wife, Kaitlyn and their two children.

 

 

Ben Ayers - Associate Director of Bands

Mr. Ayers' responsibilities include the direction of the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band.

Mr. Ayers graduated from The University of North Texas with a degree in Music Education. Prior to graduation, he performed with the UNT Wind Ensemble and Brass Band under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Williams. He was also an integral member of the UNT Green Brigade and UNT Basketball Band. During his time with the Green Brigade, he was a marching technician and Student Assistant to the Director. Mr. Ayers has worked with several outstanding band programs, including the Coppell High School marching band, Rock Hill High School marching band, and Azle High School indoor winds. He is an active member of Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Texas Bandmaster’s Association (TBA), Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and The National Eagle Scout Association.

Mr. Ayers also has a background in drum corps, marching both Trumpet and Mellophone. During his time in DCI, he marched with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2015, The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps in 2017, and the Blue Devils Drum Corps in 2018 and 2019, winning the DCI World Championship. 

Mr. Ayers lives in Denton, Texas with his dogs, Artemis and Athena. He loves watching the Stars, Rangers, Mavericks, Cowboys, and especially all the UNT teams. He’s an avid fisherman and will take any chance to go on a hike and find a hidden waterfall.

 

 

 

Jacob Carter - Percussion Director

Mr. Carter joined Memorial in 2022 after teaching three years in the Carrollton Creekview High School cluster, and three years in the Reedy cluster.
Mr. Carter holds a Master's degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Arkansas and was under the instruction of Chalon Ragsdale. He received his undergraduate degree in Musical Arts at the University of Oklahoma and was under the direction of Dr. Lance Drege.
He brings a great wealth of teaching experience, including teaching undergraduate music majors at the University of Arkansas, the percussion section of the Razorback Marching Band, the Front ensemble at Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps, and Resistance Indoor Percussion. He has also performed in numerous renowned performance groups, including The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, Colts Drum and Bugle Corps, Gateway Indoor, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, and the Arkansas Philharmonic.
Mr. Carter lives in Garland with his Fiance Jami Brown, and two dogs, Nico and Hera. 

 

 

Nicole Robbins - Percussion Assistant Director

Nicole Robbins is a graduate of the University of North Texas, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, and of the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Master's degree in Music Performance.

While in Austin, Ms. Robbins served as an Academic Assistant teaching the UT Steel Bands and running the touring ensemble, "The Pans of Texas”. She also worked with contemporary ensembles, including Line Upon Line and Density512. She has performed in numerous ensembles, including the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, UNT 2:00 Steel Band, UNT Percussion Ensemble, UNT Wind Symphony, UT New Music Ensemble, and UT Wind Ensemble.

Ms. Robbins has performed at prestigious events, including the Lassiter Percussion Symposium, the Sō Percussion Summer festival, Texas Music Educators Association convention, and Percussive Arts Society International Convention. She has been fortunate to study with renowned educators, such as Mark Ford, Robert Schietroma, Leigh Howard Stevens, Christopher Deane, Paul Rennick, Poovalur Sriji, Jose Aponte, and Dr. Thomas Burritt.

Prior to working with the Memorial Band, Ms. Robbins served as the percussion director for Shepton High School in Plano and worked with the Plano West marching band.

Currently, Ms. Robbins lives in Frisco with her husband Dr. Adam Davis. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, and playing with their dog Stormy.

 

 

Dain Rodrigue- Color Guard Director

Mr. Rodrigue is from southern Louisiana and graduated from Nicholls State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Throughout his time at university, he worked with many successful groups across the Louisiana Mississippi Colorguard and Percussion Circuit (LMCGPC).  

Mr. Rodrigue previously worked at Centennial High School and enjoyed providing lessons and choreography to colorguard students throughout Frisco ISD. As a performer, he has performed with Crescent City Independent, Voodoo Independent, CGT, and The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, and has competed in world-class finals in both WGI World Championships and DCI World Championships.

Mr. Rodrigue is excited to continue the success of the Warrior Colorguard and nurture all the performers alongside the excellent educators at Memorial High School!
